Selarang to Sonkurai: In their own words

'Selarang to Sonkurai: In Their Own Words' gives voice to the objects and images that symbolize one of the most horrific series of events in Australia's military history.

This display draws together oral histories, objects and photographs telling the story of Australian soldiers taken as prisoners-of-war by the Japanese during WWII in the Pacific.

Many dies; the fortunate returned forever changed, yet their stories remain. Sourced from surviving POWs and the relatives of those no longer alive, this display pays tribute to all those who suffered in hope that their stories would live on.
